November 2022 Newsletter

DEAR MENLO CHURCH,

Last Sunday was a big day in the life of our church. If you were in Menlo Park for the congregational vote, you were able to hear the resounding affirmation of Phil EuBank as our next Senior Pastor. I am so excited about this new chapter and can’t wait to see how God will move through our church in this new season to reach people with the saving love of Jesus.

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.
- 1 Chronicles 16:34

Along with the provision of a new Senior Pastor we have an overwhelming list of blessings that God has authored at Menlo Church. In the past year we saw our attendance grow as new people at every campus discovered the grace of Jesus Christ and were wrapped up in the love of community. They have been eager for more involvement, joining our Starting Point classes and making the commitment to become a covenant partner. People are hungry to grow in faith and make a difference in the world.

Many of you have found new ways to serve and get in the game, leading Labs and Life Groups, and reaching out to friends and neighbors. Your invitations brought over 1,000 people to our trick-or-treat events last month and many of them took another step and returned to campus for worship. Our Kids and Students programs continue to grow and even the youngest are getting in the game. A five-year-old girl at the Saratoga campus wanted to know how she could serve others; this past Sunday she got up early to join a community project blessing local seniors with cards and letters. Praise God!

Your generous and faithful giving enabled us to close our financial gap in August and continues to provide for the life-changing work we do every week. God in his grace sustained us during a long season of transition and through your generosity we continue to bless people in our local communities and around the world as needs arise.

One final note of gratitude. Our Menlo Church staff has weathered many challenges in the past few years and I have been inspired by their tireless work and faithfulness to the mission of our church. No one exemplifies this more than Sue Kim-Ahn, who has served in many roles here, including her current role on the leadership team. Sue has led with grace and integrity and built a reputation for being kind, trustworthy, and capable. After over 12 years of faithful service Sue will be concluding her time on staff. If you know Sue, I encourage you to reach out and express your gratitude to her before her last day on December 2. She will be deeply missed.

I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers.
- Ephesians 1:16

May we live with grateful hearts this month and every month for our God has done great things.

Blessings to you,

Scott Palmbush
Acting Head of Staff
