This guide is designed to guide a group discussion around the weekend sermon. You can also use this as an individual, but we highly recommend finding a friend and inviting them to discuss with you. Menlo Church has Life Groups meeting in-person and online using these guides. We’d love to help you find a group.

What you will find in this guide: A discussion guide for groups and individuals. If you are using this as an individual be sure to engage with each question in a journal or simply in your mind as you prayerfully consider what you heard in the sermon and seek to discover what God is inviting you to know and do.

Dream | Startup Faith

CONNECT:

What is a big dream or goal you’ve had in your life? Did you achieve it, or is it still in progress?

If you could devote 20% of your time to something you’re passionate about, what would it be?

‍

ENGAGE:

Read: Acts 1:1-8

How does the church’s mission to be witnesses “to the ends of the earth” align with the idea of dreaming beyond your current limits?

Reflecting on the four ingredients (curiosity, opportunity, community, possibility), which resonates most with how the early church grew?

What challenges or distractions do you see in your own life that could hinder dreaming with hope?

APPLY:

Which of the four ingredients—curiosity, opportunity, community, or possibility—do you need to focus on to rekindle hope and vision in your life?

How can creating margin in your daily routine (e.g., practicing “20% Time”) open up space to dream and deepen your faith?

Identify one area of your life where you feel limited by assumptions, obligations, or isolation. How can your faith help you break through those barriers?

PRAYER:

Thank God for the hope we have in Jesus and the presence of the Holy Spirit.

Pray for a fresh vision for your life, rooted in curiosity, opportunity, community, and possibility.

Ask God to reveal specific ways you can create margin and take bold steps of faith this year.
