Series Resources

sermon-based study guide

This guide is designed to guide a group discussion around the weekend sermon. You can also use this as an individual, but we highly recommend finding a friend and inviting them to discuss with you. Menlo Church has Life Groups meeting in-person and online using these guides. We’d love to help you find a group.
What you will find in this guide: A discussion guide for groups and individuals. If you are using this as an individual be sure to engage with each question in a journal or simply in your mind as you prayerfully consider what you heard in the sermon and seek to discover what God is inviting you to know and do.

CONNECT

Share one of your favorite movies or books where the story gripped your heart and imagination ,and explain what you learned from it, whether positive or negative.

ENGAGE

Read 2Corinthians 3:1-3 as a group and discuss:

●     In what ways do you see God as the author of your story?

●     How do you balance telling your story with not letting your problems define you?

●     What does it mean to you to be a “letter from Christ” as Paul described in 2 Corinthians3:1-3?

●     How can you use your story to give hope to others who might be struggling?

●     How has your understanding of your own story changed as you’ve grown in your faith?

●     What part of your life story do you think God is using the most right now?

APPLY

●     What steps can you take to ensure you’re living out the story God has for you?

●      How do you see the power of your story in helping others connect to God’s story?

●      How and who can you share your story and how God as the main character has been showing up in your life?

PRAYER

Pray together, askingGod to help us recognize that He is the author of our lives and that our stories are part of His greater story of putting broken things right. Ask Godto show you His deep love and care for you in the story that is still being written.
